Policies
These are only a few of our polices, when you join you will be issued with your own parent policies and there is always a full copy on the notice board.
Safeguarding Children
Chapel Grange Montessori Nursery has a written policy on reporting suspected child abuse/neglect and all staff are aware of the need to report any anxieties to the Nursery Manager without delay. The nursery will always report such suspicions to Social Services without delay.
Fire Regulations
Regular fire drills are carried out so both staff and children are completely familiar with the fire procedures. Fire safety standards are strictly adhered to.
Illness
A parent and at least one other nominated person should be availabe at all times to collect a child from nursery in case of illness and the nursery must be kept advised of their current telephone numbers. Children should not attend if unwell, or if there is a possibility that they may be suffering from an infectious illness. It is therefore advisable to check with the nursery before returning your child following illness. If these requirements are not adhered to, you will be requested to take your child home immediately.
Medication
If a child is feeling unwell, he/she should be kept away from nursery, so that medication and care can be provided. If medication is required on a regular basis for a long standing condition, neither the nursery nor its staff can be held responsible for any error or omission in it's administration. Any such medicine must be clearly marked with the name of the person for whom it has been prescribed, the correct dosage to be administered and the time; the child's medication must be accompanied by a letter of permission to administer the medicine from the parent/guardian. The parent/guardian must fill out the medication form provided by the nursery.
Recruitment Policy
All staff are subject to a rigorous recruitment process which includes the following:
- CRB Disclosure (the old police check)
- References
- Full employment history
- Qualifications, certificates are seen
- Interviews
- Identity checks, necessary for the CRB process
- Medical checks
Until a member of staff has a clear CRB check they are not left unsupervised with the children.
Equality of Opportunities Policy:
We will provide your child with an environment where their individual needs will be met. They will be included, valued and supported during their time with us, enabling them to access all activities on offer and where necessary we will make reasonable adjustments to our environment to ensure this happens. We are committed to working with parents and other agencies to ensure your child receives the support necessary. We have a named Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator who ensures the nursery is following the Code of Practice.
Behaviour Policy:
At Chapel Grange we believe in promoting positive behaviour and we believe in preventative methods of discipline. Aggressive behaviour towards others is not tolerated and at no time will physical punishment or the threat of it be used. Staff receive regular training so that the whole team is following good practice to implement a successful behaviour policy. The Montessori philosophy promotes self respect, respect for others and respect for the environment; these all encourage good behaviour. Children are not labelled and their behaviour is not judged. Unacceptable behaviour is discussed with the child and they are always told why the behaviour will not be tolerated.
